Mike Sim is in his 4th year as principal of the East Pennsboro Area Middle School. He was previously a 7th and 8th grade math teacher at EPMS, dating back to 1993. He graduated from Grove City College in 1991 with a degree in Math/Secondary Education. He earned his Master’s degree in Education and Principal’s Certification from Cabrini College in 2012. He has enjoyed his 25 years with the district and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
Mike is married to Amber, who teaches science at Cumberland Valley High School. She previously taught for over 20 years at EPMS and EPHS. Mike and Amber have two kids, Dylan, 16, and Lauren, 14. Both attend EPHS.
Mike enjoys watching sports with his family, especially the Phillies and Steelers. He enjoys running, and has run 4 marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2009.
Mike is very thankful for the students of East Pennsboro, especially from Middle School. He is excited (scared, really!) to take on the challenge of dancing to help give back to the students and to the EP Foundation, who has given so generously to programs at the Middle School.
He would like to thank Kyla, his dancing “pro” who is a 10th grade student at EPHS, for all her patience with a “rookie” dancer.
Kyla Wise is a 10th grader at EPHS. She has been dancing since she was 5and has 11 years dance experience. She has trained in various dance styles from jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, contemporary and many more.
Kyla has danced competitively since she was 6 and currently dances on two Competition teams-AthElite Dance in Mechanicsburg, PA and Morton’s Dance Center in Landisville, PA. She has competed both individually and in groups. Kyla attends multiple conventions, camps and also makes time to attend classes in NYC at Broadway Dance Center.
She is a member of the HS chorus and has danced in the Fall Cabaret since 8th grade. She also participates in the school musicals, track and field team and French Club.
When she isn’t in school or dancing she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and her furry friends (1 dog and 2 cats).
Kyla is excited to have choreographed this number and for the opportunity to dance with Mr. Sim. She is sure he will shine on stage!
